Crazy day
It all started badly. According to my family custom, we are to buy some birds to free it in front of the temple before primary and secondary school starts. So my family and I went to some bird shop in Serangoon to buy 2 birds. We went to 3 bird shops but all doesn't have the type of birds we wanted to buy. When we were at the 3rd bird shop, there were alot of parrots there, some really colourful, some just a dull white or green. One of the colourful parrots squawked and went, 'Hello!' Another squawk and went, ' I want!' I didn't get the chance to hear what it said next as we went off to the 4th bird shop. Parrots are seriously cute and smart, except their squawking is noisy and out-of-tune. Then we finally found the birds we needed and headed off to the temple. When we reached there, we prayed and placed the 5kg rice sack, oil, flowers and candies on the offerings table and went to the main entrance of the temple to free the birds. I opened the paper bag and one of the birds took off immediately. The other one stayed down there, so I tore the paper bag apart for it to fly away. But alas, it hopped out and hop and hop under a cart of flowers that belongs to the flower-seller. Then I realized the poor bird had an injured wing and it couldn't fly at all, except flying some short distances and dropping down again. My mum decided to catch the bird back and nurse it back to health before freeing it again as the bird might be stepped on by passers-by if it wasn't fast enough to hop away. Then my father, brother and I went on a wild goose chase to catch the bird but it hopped away even before we can get close to it. But we didn't give up and looked under carts, trying to snatch it up before it hopped away but it was too fast. So in the end, after chasing it for about 15 minutes, we gave up. The passers-by were all laughing and stuff. They didn't even help. At least, they shouldn't laugh right? This always happens, before I attended primary school, I always freed 2 birds but only one could fly away... Oh well, I hope the bird won't be in any danger. But it was really a crazy experience. It was a first one too, cause we didn't try catching it the 1st time I freed birds and one couldn't fly. That's all for now. Bye! ;)
